1927. The birth of italian ice cream technology
In 1927, an ingenious italian manufacturer, Otello Cattabriga, invented a mechanical system recreating the technique of traditional ice cream making, imitating with automatic means the same system typically used in the manual system.
This was a truely revolutionary innovation and the bolognese Otello Cattabriga became famous all over the world: From that moment on, homemade ice cream makers took the inventor’s name and were simply called Cattabriga, by one and all.
The Cattabriga story is a tale full of technological innovations that are still ongoing today. This has made it possible for this historic trademark to maintain supremacy over the course of time in terms of maintaining the Cattabriga tradition and the choices made regarding both technique and manufacture.
Modern assembly lines at the Cattabriga plant follow the entire manufacturing course of the machines step by step, along the route with the inspection and testing stations, thereby committing the production of machines that are increasingly reliable, given that their destiny is to produce homemade ice cream which simply has to be excellent.
Here at Cattabriga all of the machines undergo strict inspections and severe test procedures individually one at a time, before proceeding on from production to the finished product store and then to packaging.
A special sensor travels with the packaged machine during transport and upon arrival indicates any damage.
Cattabriga machines can be found the world over and in all of the most important workshops of the Italian master ice cream makers, and this is because precisely there, in those workshops, where everything is selected according to strict criteria in order to make ice cream with a mark of excellence, excellence goes hand in hand with Cattabriga machines.
These are the reasons why Cattabriga, the leading manufacturer of homemade ice cream makers, the harbinger in this sector, is worldwide acknowledged as the “preserver of tradition”, starting from the very first vertical ice cream machines in the world, then going to the inimitable “bain marie” system of its pasteurisers and to the electronic horizontal batch freezers as well.
